On Sunday I went to a spot a friend told me about. You can go only so far with a vehicle then have to walk about a kilometer to get to this spot. The view is incredible. I have a couple panoramas I have process and if they turn out, I’ll add them to this post. I definitely plan to return to this spot. I took many photos but not many turned out. First time using my 70-200 at 200 for landscapes shots. Takes a little more care before pulling the trigger to get a good shot. I need to spend more time focusing and weighing down my boat anchor tripod. I have this old Linhoff my uncle gave me and it is a monster but sturdy. It can also reach above my head and I am 6′1″. Below is the road to get to this view.

Friday Night Sunset MagicPosted by: admin in May, tags: hdr, magic hour, sandilands, sunsetI’ve been saving this spot for the right conditions. Last night the conditions were right. On the drive to this spot there was a vivid rainbow to the east. I was not in a good location to capture it and by the time I got to a good spot, set up and was ready to shoot, it was too late. The rainbow had almost disappeared and did not return. Not all was last though. I spent about an hour a half at this location and got a few keepers. I still get amazing at some of the colors that nature can produce. As I was taking these photos there was a little on an ATV cruising back n forth on the trail/bridge. This little swamp/valley is actually between to properties. Just imagine having this view out your kitchen window everyday.

Rat River SunsetPosted by: admin in May, tags: hdr, landscape, nature, rat river, sandilandsThese photos so happen to be of the Rat River. The same river the bridge in the previous photos crosses. Only, this is over 100km away. A friend of mine told me about this location a long time ago but tonight worked out to be a good night to finally go check it out. You MIGHT be able to get to this point by car but I doubt it. Truck/SUV or ATV would be the only way. Or a LONG walk from the highway. With the huge dump of rain we recently got, the rivers are running wild! This was a tough location to shoot at. There were too many trees in the way. I hope to return in Fall or Winter. One last addition from last night’s shoot. |
