The Hunting Shack

Tonight I stopped by a friend’s property near where I live. He has a lot of interesting things to photograph. My favorite is the inside of his hunting shack. I remember having a couple bears there in winter. As you can see, there is no insulation. We depended heavily on the fire to keep us warm!

Sandilands Look Out 15 Image Panorama

Sandilands Look Out 6 Image Panorama

Last night I decided to revisit Sandilands Lookout, in Sandilands Provincial Park, as I call it. In. I am really glad I did and glad I got there when I did. The sky was dancing with clouds and colors which made for a great sunset series of shots. The first image is made from 15 shots with my 70-200 turn 90 degrees. The final cropped size is 18,900 x 2716 (50mp). The second is made from 6 shots with my 10-22mm wide angle lens. This time of year is perfect for shooting as the mosquitoes have finally let up a bit! Below are a couple shots from my first visit to the lookout. On the drive home I had to stop and get a shot of the highway and sky. The shot is made from 2 exposures. One to capture the sky and a 30s exposure for the road manually stitched together.

Train Tracks Vertical Panorama

This weekend we had a chance to go to the lake again. Friday night I had a chance to get some sunset shots before dinner. I had the perfect spot to take some sunset shots. As I was getting set up, someone on a jetski came and ruined the glass like water. Using a 4 stop ND filter I tried my best to smooth out the water. I didn’t have much time or I would have waited for it the get calm again. On my walk to the spot I came across many bones. This stretch of the #1 highway is very dangerous. On the way home I decided to take a couple detours and snap some shots. I found a sunflower field. I swear this is the biggest bee I have ever seen. I finally got to do a vertical panorama of train tracks. Got to see some of the damage done by a tornado that hit the area recently.
